PostHeaderIcon RIP Omertá

Dear
Guild Members,
Former Members,
World of Warcraft Members,

If you would have told me three years ago: "Your guild will see alot of endgame, they will even face the Lich King at some point!" I would have called this person Crazy! But yet here we are. What a long strange trip it's been... i took this from That 70's Show as i think it applys here better than anywhere else.

When i first came into WoW i wondered what that extra name was ppl had. A friend of mine explained to me what guilds are & how they worked. I then saw some movies about guilds going into 40-men raids and from that moment i dreamt about having my own guild. I was a lvl 40 Shaman when i finally got the courage to go buy this guild, this must have been about 5-6 years ago. Being a big Godfather fan at the time i decided to name it Omertá 'Do not betray your friends'. Maybe it is ironic that that same sentance is what made us get here or rather not following it.

As i knew nothing of raiding i joined another endgame guild and gave Omertá to one of my alts. It is there that i learned the fun of having an active guild chat with great ppl in it. After going to a couple of raids i was sure i would be able to do that as well. Naive as i was i left the guild and started Omertá... By the time we had 40 raiding ppl, TBC came out ruening it! We all went our seperate ways only to meet again a couple of months later. During TBC i joined mutliple guilds but none of them seemed to fit. Then suddenly i came into Draconarius, a guild that have many things that i liked. It is there i started enjoying raids and learning Karazhan Tactics. Sadly, Draconarius died a couple of weeks later. Seeing as i didn't want to go through the trouble of finding another fitting guild i decided to restart Omertá with some ppl left in Draconarius. This marked the birth of the Omertá we have known untill now.

The Omertá TBC time

In a server mostly dominated with hardcore raiding guilds or social raiding guilds Omertá was a breath of fresh air. We were one of the only social guilds that also wanted to raid without pushing things. We started with Karazhan where we wiped on Attumen & Moroes (how difficult was moroes!). After recruiting alot of Blue geared ppl like Thorgg & Divider we actually managed to down a couple of bosses. Seeing as Divider knew more about this stuff than me he became my first Co-Ldr (mistake? ^^) It is during this time we recruited ppl like Devolution, Drakcirkuk & Lanthoriel. Seeing as Drak was online 24/7 he got an officer spot (& is the only one that never gave it up xD). During our Gruul runs (yesyes we had 25 raiders!!!!) we kept wiping on Gruul himself. Then someone suggested we let devo tank it. First thing that went through my mind was: "lol a paladin can't tank, what a waste of time..." Sure enough we one shotted Gruul... >_>. Seeing as he prove me wrong and sounded like a jolly old man Devo became an officer & later Co-Leader quite fast.

What followed was a rollercoaster ride of downing bosses, laughing, super sexy phun runs etc... Then suddenly we entered Serpentshrine Cavern & Tempest Keep. The underdog in SSC & TK? Around the same time many guilds started having problems, many of them died as well. But not Omertá! We took in many members which allowed us to keep doing 25 mens 2 (even 3) times a week. During this time we had lovely ppl like Maya, Television, Schism and so many others that slipped my mind (sorry guys). I will never forget the super sexy phun Karazhans or Zul'Amans ^^. After alot of ups & downs we suddenly decided to go Mount Hyjall this is one of the best experiences i have with the guild. Bit later we entered Black Temple. I remember someone saying (right after i said welcome to Black Temple): "I can't believe Omertá is in Black Temple" And everyone started laughing. It is one of my favorite moments i'll never forget. We ended TBC with an Archimonde kill which was so lovely. What an amazing time!

The Wrath of The LIch King (expansion)

Happy we would be able to have a new start at the same point in time as other guilds we went onto Lich King. It wasn't the easyest time but we managed to keep up with the rest. Blizzard introduced the 10/25 man system which seemed good at first but ended up being a stab in the eye for us. We managed to clear Naxx 10 & 25 quite fast. (I remember the first time we cleared 25.. we were with 24 as i died on the pull... ah well a coach is always on the sideline ^^). During Ulduar we had one of our best WotLK times. Wipenight after wipenight on XT and Razor it was so much fun but it is here that the 10/25 system started to hurt. Seeing as our members weren't hardcore raiders some of them started getting more interested in the easier 10m. Problems or not we kept going and we downed many bosses, eventually clearing Uld 10 & 25. ToTC was a real trial for our guild as many ppl went inactive. But luckily at that time the strong officer team pulled us through and we cleared it quite fast. We also had some really nice HM runs which were very lovely.

The real Wrath of the LIch King

As soon as icecrown citadell came out the problems started for us. We saw many of our core members quit WoW. Adding to the lack of members was the backstabbing of some of our other members. With me & devo being inactive at the time some other ppl took over and made the guild into something it wasn't supposed to be. By the time we came back we had to start over. We recruited many new ppl and were able to save the guild. Into ICC we went clearing much in 10 & 25m but the ppl that were the cause of it all were a ticking time bomb. Eventually we had a mass leave which had to be compensated by mass recruiting. This set us back a bit but thanks to many helping hands we got through. In the beginning of March 2010 we had a strong ICC 25 raiding team. Unfortunatelly internal disputes, inactivitys & some more behind the scenes backtalk rendered many of the work useless. The guild was slowly dying, the core members shrinking. After the easter holiday we found ourselves having to mass recruit a third time in only 4 months. Unfortunately we do not have the resources atm to do this & so we must come to a conclusion.

It is with alot of pain in my heart that i have to announce this. Omertá is taking a break. We will no longer raid and will be purely social for those willing to stay in touch. Both me & Devo do not have the time to try to get it in order. That + The lack of core members + the awfull time to mass recruit + so many other factors. Omertá will stay on Bloodscalp for now and we will see during or after the summer (Catacl?) to restart and have a clean, fresh start.

I would like to thank:
The ex-omertá ppl Those that quit the game, you will always be rememberd, specially mu tree Divider. Those that left the guild, i know we had our differences buy many of you were a big part of the guild at some point.
All our current members, thanks for staying and the effort you put into the guild so far.
Our veterans Elvi, Hean, Lanthoriél, Snuff without you guys this would have happened long ago!
My Class Leaders: The work & effort you put into this guild is something that can't be thanked enough with words.
My last Officer for life Drakcirkuk. There isn't a world of warcraft without you m8 & defenitly no Omertá!
And last but defenitly not least my loyal co-ldr, my Right Hand Man, The Capo de Tuti Capi, The shoulder to cry on & most importantly my good friend: DEVOLUTION.

Thank you all so much for the lovely 3 years. Omertá will always be one of my major accomplishments in life & i will never forget it. I will do my best to get it restarted as well.

What I will do know... i have no idea yet. i'll check my possiblilitys & get back to you.

With Lots of love,
Your Guild Master,
Kromius aka Mortem aka Pluven.
